Solving Problems with Future-Focused Design
Part of creating innovative learning experiences is considering the needs of the future. The projects featured feature a focus on developing experimental instruction and institutions.
Future-Focused Design
A research project on the usage of AI tracking 1st generation students progress in higher ed.
This project looks at the inequity of college admissions and its impact on First Gen Students.
Project looking at the response to Generative AI and it's impact on academic integrity.
Designing a University based on principles of community, innovation, & holistic learning.
Featured Projects
Design for Humanities Institute
Design for Humanities Institute was a project I worked on in my foundations class. The goals was to create a university based concepts introduced to the incoming class of LDT students.
To the right is a mock website of a new university that focuses on the following principles:
1. Nomadic Campus and Curriculum
2. Design focused on Community Engagement
3. Integration of Technology and Adaptable Curriculum
AI Checkers and Academic Integrity Research
I did the project right at the beginning of mainstream adoption of OpenAi. Educators feared its application for plagiarism and academic dishonesty. Many plagiarism checkers marketed AI Checker tools in response.
In this project, I researched different AI checkers and assessed their accuracy and recommended options in substitution of those tools.
Wicked Problems of Admissions and First Generation Students
In the University as a Design Problem seminar we explored "wicked problems" impacting higher ed.
For this final project, I researched college admissions shortcomings in regards to first generation students.
The projects explores the following:
1. The Current Problem
2. Why this problem is hard to solve?
3. Paradigms that must arise in the future
4. What might disrupt admissions in the future?
Gender Bias in Professor Evaluations
In this project, I worked with play data to assess information about gender bias in professor evaluations. Student feedback is important for educator professional development. But it is also important to understand how data plays a role in that feedback.
The write-up provided here is a statistical analysis. I worked on this project for my research methods class and used IBM SPSS to analyze the data and coded with R.
